This project aims to engage employers in the youth work, child care and pre-school sectors. Its work seeks to help employers train their staff for leadership roles, and to develop the skilled workforce they need for a growing and increasingly regulated industry.
By 2010-11, we aim to have begun producing fully equipped employees in the youth work, pre-school and child care sector.
The project will mix work-based learning and on-campus provision delivered flexibly in the day or evening. This will enable individual learners to get student support while continuing their work.
The project contains a strong element of continuing professional development. This means that successful students who become the graduate leaders of the future will stay involved with higher education as mentors or through work-based learning opportunities. These graduates will also ensure active and practical engagement between employers and the university.
