Public engagement

We support a National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE). The NCCPE helps universities to engage with the public to promote best practice in public engagement and provide a single point of contact for the whole higher education (HE) sector.

They also work strategically with key national partners to help develop work across the sector, including six Beacons of Public Engagement established in 2008, the UK higher education funding councils Research Councils UK and the Wellcome Trust.

In December 2010 the NCCPE launched a Manifesto for Public Engagement and are inviting every HEI and Research Institute to sign up and also offer assistance for universities in implementing the Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research
