Category : Computing
Feasibility study reference : FS56
Lead institution : YHMAN Ltd
This study will look at greater utilisation of machine room (and associated services) capacity across the YHMAN region (Yorkshire and Humberside) by creation of a Virtual Datacentre. This will mean that datacentre delivery is shared across the region. A particular benefit will be lower-cost solutions associated with resilience and recovery. Additionally, greater use will be made of available (and soon to be brought on stream) physical and operator assets, plus addressing some of the important environmental and power concerns. The outcome is expected to be replicable into other MANs and scalable within a [MAN] region.
Total funding : £121,000
Submission of outcome report : 30 April 2009
