Key performance indicators to aid effective governance in higher education

The Committee of University Chairs code of practice on good governance in higher education (HEFCE 2009/02) makes references to the monitoring of institutional performance as a specific responsibility of higher education governing bodies. It envisages the development of a series of high level performance indicators, both quantitative and qualitative to support governing bodies in this task. This project, which reported in 2006, developed Key Performance indicators (KPIs) that were related to corporate mission and key objectives for use by governing bodies.
