The management of academic workloads: creating a community of practice

Project reference : LGMF-129

Lead institution : University of Salford

Building on research in eight universities on how academic workloads were managed, a network involving 12 university partners was set up, including employer and employee representatives.

It has supported practical implementation and facilitated the dissemination of good practice.

After an event to disseminate the findings of the phase 1 in Autumn 2009, the network continued to operate until July 2011. During this second phase the network looked beyond methods to more complex areas such as how equity can be achieved taking into account all the different work types and the effect that these approaches can have on the opportunities for staff.

Total funding : £92,000
