Delivery of nationally published statistics on higher education institutions via the web

Project reference : LGMF-062

Lead institution : University of Leeds

The purpose of the project, which was completed in 2006, was to provide a national web-based delivery mechanism for key statistics on the higher education sector, based on a system (‘LUMIS’) developed by the University of Leeds. It was designed to complement existing HESA CDs such as ‘HE Planning Plus’ and ‘HE Finance Plus’ and replace other products such as Higher Education Management Statistics (HEMS) Institution Level.

The development enabled universities and colleges to access statistics quickly and easily, from a single source, thus freeing time for analysis and comparison. It also facilitated the proactive use of competitor knowledge for strategic planning purposes, in particular for benchmarking, and so maximised the value gained by institutions from the data collection they have invested in. This single national approach prevented duplication of effort on the development of similar systems.

The Higher Education Information Database for Institutions (HEIDI) is now available.

Total funding : £322,000
