Enhancing organisational development capability in English universities

Organisational development (OD) is planned intervention designed to improve the performance of organisations. It involves devising, delivering and evaluating change programmes that enhance capability at all levels.

This project, which was completed in 2008, was intended to:

• map a comprehensive picture of current OD practice in higher education in England
• analyse the range of well-established approaches in use
• identify the use and benefits of less well-documented approaches such as appreciative enquiry
• disseminate the knowledge gained to the sector.
