Streamlining the administration of hardship funds

Project reference : GMP-209

Lead institution : University of the West of England, Bristol

The project has two complementary aims:

  • to develop a database of national and local information on hardship funds provided by DfEE, TTA, NHS and internal hardship funds
  • to develop online information and self-assessment systems for all (full-time/part-time/UG/PG) students to determine their potential financial support package.

Together they are designed to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of the allocation of hardship funds to students.

The project enjoys the participation of UCAS and will initially focus on four HEIs but the methods and systems should be easy to adapt across the sector.

Total funding : £226,259
