Co-ordinated implementation of an e-procurement marketplace

Project reference : LGMF-118

Lead institution : University of Hertfordshire

E-procurement offers an opportunity to improve the efficiency of the procurement process but take up in the sector had been low when this project began in 2007. This was largely due to poor supplier adoption and very few exemplars of transactional e-procurement systems in the sector. Following an EU procurement exercise led by seven members of Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium* (SUPC) a framework agreement for Parabilis Marketplace was awarded to EGS. This project which ran until July 2010 was intended to:

  • develop best practice guidance for the implementation of an e-procurement systems
  • encourage and support other institutions to implement an e-procurement system
  • encourage and support suppliers to fully participate in e-procurement systems.

Total funding : £154,000
