Leading curriculum change for sustainability: strategic approaches to quality enhancement

Project reference : LSDHE17

Lead institution : University of Gloucestershire

This project recognises the strategic need to reorient graduate skills towards the challenges of sustainable development. It seeks to improve institutional leadership by progressing 'Education for Sustainable Development' (ESD) through quality assurance and enhancement.

It will produce a practical and strategic guidance manual for senior managers in higher education. A partnership of five institutions (Aston, Brighton, Exeter, Gloucestershire and Oxford Brookes) will work as case study exemplars, embedding ESD within their academic infrastructure. At the same time, they will engage with sector agencies, such as the Quality Assurance Agency and the Higher Education Academy to promote change for other higher education institutions.

The project which is funded under the Leading Sustainable Development in HE initiative will run from October 2010 to September 2012.

Total funding : £201,375
