Impact of the funding reforms on further education colleges

We would like to invite further education colleges to give their views on the impact of the new higher education funding and fee reforms. We are seeking these views to inform a report that we expect  to publish in March 2013.

Canvasing a range of views

Higher education in a further education setting covers a range of colleges, at both large and small institutions. We are keen to hear views from the full range of colleges.

We recognise the complexity of funding routes and validation arrangements. As such we are interested to understand more about how all types of further education colleges have been affected by the new funding and fee reforms.

What are we asking?

We have written directly to the heads of HEFCE-funded and indirectly funded further education colleges inviting responses.

In particular we would like colleges to consider the following questions:

What are the three main opportunities from the changes to the new funding and fee reforms to:

  • your college
  • prospective and current students at your college?

What are the three main challenges from the changes to the new funding and fee reforms to :

  • your college
  • prospective and current students at your college?

We would be grateful if colleges could provide a succinct explanation for each opportunity or challenge they identify.

How to respond

The survey is available to complete below. This should be returned to fecimpactsurvey2013@hefce.ac.uk by 11 January 2013.

A copy of the letter sent to colleges is also available below.
