We used 2005-06 HESA/ILR data to inform the withdrawal of funding for equivalent or lower qualifications (ELQs). We published a document that described how we used this data with the 2008-09 individualised data and summary tables for each institution provided in spring 2008. It is aimed at staff in institutions that deal with HESA or ILR data.
This document is technical and so uses various codes. For ease of reference, we have also compiled a list of notional subject area exemptions and strategically important and vulnerable subjects (SIVS) which informed the withdrawal of funding.
These lists relate to the initial formulation of the ELQ policy, and are not lists of subjects which are exempt from the withdrawal of funding. They should be read with care, and in conjunction with the other guidance.
