Research degree qualification rates

We publish the qualification rates of research degree students at each higher education institution (HEI) in England. We first published these rates for full-time research degree students for the academic year 1999-2000 in 2007.

Subsequently we have published:

  • the qualification rates for full-time students who started research degree programmes in 2000-01, 2001-02 or 2002-03
  • the qualification rates for part-time students, and those that switch from studying part-time to full-time or vice versa, who started research degree programmes in 1999-2000
  • projected rates of qualification for students who started full-time research degrees at in 2008-09 and 2009-10. These rates are based on a new method for calculating qualification rates.
