14-19 LLN pathfinder projects
HEFCE has commissioned five Lifelong Learning Networks (LLNs) to act as pathfinders for the HE sector in their engagement with the new 14-19 diplomas being introduced in 2008.
Creative and media diploma
This project will be led by The Creative Way LLN which has identified engagement with the 14-19 diploma as a key priority in the context of its overall aim of increasing progression opportunities for students following vocational, work-based and work-related pathways. The project will blend a close analysis of curriculum content across selected areas of the subject disciplines covered by the diploma together with the optimum arrangements required to reconcile credit recognition as the mechanism for progression.
Lead contact: Liz Pearson (l.pearson@uel.ac.uk).
Construction and the built environment diploma
This project will be led by MOVE - East of England. The project aims to ensure that progression routes are identified; that HEIs understand the content of the diplomas and how they fit with their developing HE curricula; MOVE progression accords are integrated into the development and delivery of the diploma.
Lead contact: Trish Judson (trish.jusdon@move.ac.uk).
Engineering diploma
This project will be led by the North East Higher Skills Network. The project aims to establish a forum for local authorities and HEIs together to consider the key issues for HEIs engagement and involvement with the diploma.
Lead contact: Colin Wilkinson (c.wilkinson@tees.ac.uk).
ICT diploma
This project will be led by the West London LLN and South London LLN. The project aims to identify methods and processes for curriculum matching and change to occur. It intends to develop a model of engagement which will explore how HE intervention can produce a more collegiate approach to delivering a portfolio of complementary work experiences for diploma and HE learners.
Lead contact: Graeme Hall (Graeme.hall@westlondonlln.org).
Society, health and development diploma
This project will be led by Higher York and aims to facilitate a close working relationship between local providers at all levels to ensure curriculum fit and appropriate progression opportunities.
Lead contact: Jessica Grant (j.grant@higheryork.org).
