Summary

The Creative Way LLN will enable education institutions and funders of institutions to work together strategically and with greater collaboration to increase progression into post-16 education, to create the conditions for efficient and effective growth in FE and HE participation, and to improve and increase learner choice. Focused on creative and cultural industries (CCI), the LLN will help to address the skills needs and progression of students by:

  • mapping gaps in CCI course provision and areas of unmet demand, and working collaboratively to ensure that the demand is met through expanding existing courses or developing additional courses
  • fostering new course development in emerging CCI areas
  • developing a progression framework and progression agreements across the LLN partners , and ensuring that progression and transition routes are mapped and aligned
  • developing the conditions for credit-transfer agreements to operate successfully, and developing a credit-transfer framework that operates across the Creative Way LLN and maps onto other regional and national frameworks
  • establishing CATs agreements and structures that ensure that learners can carry appropriate credits between partners institutions
  • developing practitioner networks at subject level
  • developing tracking mechanisms for CCI students and developing specialist CCI materials and services to ensure that students, teachers, lecturers, advice agencies and parents understand the career and progression opportunities offered by CCIs
  • producing CCI learners who are equipped to function successfully in CCIs, as either employees or self-employed, and have the flexibility to take advantage of new opportunities/skills
  • recognising the needs of CCI businesses for skills updating and additional skills requirements and providing learning opportunities that are accessible to them
  • working strategically with other key stakeholders (for example, Aimhigher and Sector Skills Councils).
