Summary

The Lifelong Learning Network (LLN) for Greater Manchester is the result of work carried out by the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance, a partnership of seven higher education institutions, 19 further education colleges and 11 related organisations. The alliance has been in existence since early 2003.

Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance has been conditionally awarded £5.7million to realise its plans to improve progression into and through higher education for vocational learners and to enable easier access to a wide range of learning opportunities. It will capitalise on the sub-region’s educational assets in doing this, and seek to enhance the provision of programmes, and foster better partnership working with employers.

The LLN will act as a single coherent point of information and support for learners, having a presence in all partner institutions together with a central facility. New foundation degrees will be developed in partnership with employers.
