Summary

The LLN for South East London will provide a collaborative, organisational framework to enable HEIs, FECs and training providers to meet the educational and training needs of the local population and economy. The LLN will develop a range of activities to ensure that students have every opportunity to develop their potential and enter HE with the skills to succeed. These will include:

  • identification of key areas for economic growth, regeneration and employment opportunities in the South East London area and the capital as a whole
  • mapping of existing provision across the partnership and identification of gaps in education and training provision in relation to economic growth areas and low skills in the local population
  • development of a network credit system for all new provision across the LLN, which will link with the wider national development of credit systems and developments in the capital
  • analysis of progression routes in key areas, including identification of gaps in provision and lack of progression opportunities at higher levels
  • collaborative development of new provision to build capacity in key areas, especially from Level 4 to Level 5, and which utilises the strengths and expertise of all partners
  • development of flexible delivery systems and new approaches to teaching and learning to increase access for all learners
  • development and piloting of a joint tracking system, the 'virtual registry' to underpin student support and track progress
  • provision of a student support system to provide advice and information for students and to support retention and progression
  • links with other LLNs to maximise opportunities for learners and to co-ordinate progression pathways across networks.
