Monitoring and evaluation of Lifelong Learning Networks
This page provides details about the monitoring and evaluation strategy for Lifelong Learning Networks (LLNs).
LLNs have developed through an iterative process both within HEFCE and with institutions, and we have encouraged partnerships to come up with their own approaches and solutions. We identified core characteristics which we expect an LLN to include, but have expected different and innovative approaches to be taken by different LLNs. This provides particular challenges when monitoring and evaluating LLNs.
- Monitoring of LLNs provides information on milestones reached, funding spent and numbers recruited. Following the recommendation of the recent interim evaluation of LLNs, we have developed a standardised electronic template for monitoring all LLNs that captures financial data and learner outcomes. Further details on monitoring.
- Evaluation of LLNs is the review of their effectiveness, quality and impact. The evaluation strategy will have three stages: an interim external review which reported in spring 2008, an ongoing peer review process and a summative evaluation during 2009-10 reporting July 2010. Further details on evaluation.
