Many institutions are looking to upgrade their current estates, in order to improve access to buildings and facilities for disabled students.

HEFCE's Assurance Service Estates Team also provides advice to the sector on issues related to estates management.

Project capital funding 2004-06

In May 2003 we published 'Project capital round three: invitation to apply for funds'. Of the £494 million allocated to improve capital and IT infrastructure to support learning and teaching, £117 million was allocated to improve provision for disabled students, in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and its extension in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001.
